The rideshare company Lyft said Monday it will begin offering car rentals in the southern Florida Keys to help with traffic congestion in the area.
The company will use its fleet of fleet vehicles to operate short trips in the areas of Palm Beach and Orlando, where it is expanding its fleet, Lyft spokeswoman Lisa O’Neil said.
She said Lyft is also exploring expanding its car rental service to other areas, including in the Palm Beach County Keys.
The car rental company plans to launch the service this summer in areas where Lyft is already offering rideshare in the Florida Keys, O’Neill said.
She said Lyft will start using the fleet cars in the Keys in July and that the service will launch there in August.
Lyft is one of the fastest-growing ride-sharing companies in the United States, according to a recent report from the transportation consultancy Forrester.
